Spring is coming, even to snowy upstate New York. Hopefully, it won't be long before the snow is gone. By the end of February, it looked like we were on track for a record seasonal snowfall. But March was almost snow free. (Snowfall during March is sometimes 10 feet or more.) We did get another several feet of snow during the first two weeks of April so we reached our benchmark of 33 feet total for the season (402 inches according to the weather observer three miles upwind from our place).

We went up to Redfield yesterday and found a lot of bare spots around. There were only several places in the driveway where the snow was about 6 inches deep yet, but we were able to plow through them and drive all the way in to the cabin. Did have to brace up a number of birch trees that were bent over the drive by an early wet snow in order to get through.

So, within a few weeks, we will be heading up to our camp in the North woods for the next six months or more. We sometimes get an occasional snow up through about Mothers Day but that doesn't last long. The Redfield area is "communications challenged"; no cell phone coverage at all and too heavily wooded for good satellite communications. We do have a dial-up connection there; however I won't be posting much new material for quite a while. Not that a slow connection is a problem using the board, but I will be busy around the camp.

I hope some of you take the time to register on the message board and take up the slack. We need some contributions from you to keep the website interesting.
