In earlier years, photos of the St. Paul College graduating students would be taken by the Rehkop Studio in Concordia. The photos of the entire class, along with the faculty, would be assembled in a poster. Names would be written under each of the photos and the poster would then be photographed. Some of these class pictures were preserved in the Rehkop/Peterson glass plate collection which has been posted in Flickr. Five different classes have been located, namely, 1911, 1916, 1918, 1921 and 1923. You can view these pictures by clicking on the following link: SPC photos. Note that there are six class photos but there are two of the 1918 class. (E4677 and E4459) This is because the names of two of the students in the initial picture were interchanged. (see if you can find those two students)

The first picture in the set of photos is an example of the portrait of an individual student with two different profiles. Many of these individual photos are also in the collection. Unfortunately I did not identify all of these photographs before I lost my eyesight. If you are interested in one of the individual student photos you will have to scroll through the full collection of 8,000 photos. If you find one of those photos and have identified the student, feel free to post the information in the comment section for that photo.

When processing the Rehkop/Peterson glass plate collection, two copies of the St. Paul's College graduating class of 1918 were found. It was noticed that the photographs of two students, Otto Blessin and R. Einspahr, were interchanged. These class pictures were created using a poster board with cut-outs for each of the members of the faculty and of the graduating students. Decorative art and lettering were added to the poster with a name under each of the cut-outs to identify the individual. The assembled poster was then photographed. When the first photo (E4677) was examined the mistake was found. The photos of Blessin and Einspahr were swapped rather than changing the names on the poster and a new photograph (E4459) was then taken of the poster. So E4459 has the correct identifications. [Note. The photos in the collection were sequentially numbered in the order they were microfilmed, rather than date/time order.]

Having determined that two individuals, Reinhold Einspahr and Otto Blessin, were interchanged in the two photos of the class of '18, the obvious question is - which photo has the correct identification? Many of the individual portraits of the students were retained in the Rehkop collection. Searching that collection the portrait of Reinhold Einspahr was found. His name was inscribed on the top edge of the glass plate negative. Therefore, one can determine that photo E4459 had the correct identifications.
