When checking this message board, I've noticed that most of the postings eventually have 2000 or more views. While the population of Concordia is about 2000, I'm sure that not all of the views are solely from Concordia residents. In this age of Google searches, the information on the message board has been found by people all over the U.S. and some other countries. This has been verified by the e-mails that I receive from a number of areas.
If you are looking for information about the Concordia area that is not already posted on the board, be sure to register on the board and submit a posting (and while you are at it, add some interesting anecdote about the Concordia area that you remember). Who knows from which people (possible cousins) you may receive a response. |

One of the more interesting responses I received from a topic on the message board involved the posting of the Concordia Savings Bank Robbery. It was from a person in England who was researching the Jesse James gang. He found the story of the robbery on this website.
The number of books, articles, movies, and TV programs that continue to be published up to this day is simply amazing. Hundreds of bank or train robberies and raids in the Midwest have been attributed to the James Gang, even though they could not possibly have been involved in all of them. The fascination appears to be related to Jesse and his group's association with Quantrill's Raiders and bushwhackers after the Civil War. So it was popular to associate them with any robbery or visit by armed men in that era.
The purpose of my posting was the debunk the legend that Jesse James' gang had any connection with the Concordia Savings Bank robbery. |
