Note this applies only to registered members of the message board who log-in in order to post a message. Persons who simply view the board are not affected.
When logging into the message board one might encounter a virus attack in the form of spoofware which mimics a popup window from other software.
It is a known virus that attacks the php software used by this message board, attacking randomly and only occasionally.
No malware is installed on your computer. It involves messages sent over the internet from the hacker's machine.
In this particular case the virus may pretend to be from an anti-virus program stating that it has detected a virus attack that is attempting to post pornography, when in fact it is actually being sent by the hacker. It will request that you call a particular phone number immediately.
DO NOT CALL THAT NUMBER. Instead, kill the popup message using Ctrl-Alt-Del or, if all else fails, simply turn off the power to the computer.
After waiting at least a minute you should be able to re-enter the message board, log-in, and post a message.
I hope that encountering such an event does not discourage registered members from posting on the board. |
