Was Kathryn Kuhlman Methodist or Baptist?

There is a website at MUMMY KATHRYN KUHLMAN MEMORIAL PAGE which includes the church picture shown below with the caption 'The Methodist Church in Concordia, Missouri where Kathryn got saved from at 14years'. It is, of course, the old Methodist Church in Concordia. The article goes on to explain the circumstances of her conversion and that her mother Emma Walkenhorst Kuhlman was Methodist. It goes on to explain that she later joined the Baptist Church where her father Joseph was a member, although he had a "strong aversion to preachers".

In later years, she became ecumenical and considered herself to be above any denominational affiliation. Note that the historical poster in Concordia's Central Park (on the site of the old railroad station) lists her as a member of the Baptist Church, ordained minister of the Evangelical Church Alliance.

The website noted above has some interesting stories about Kathryn.

As noted by Robert Frizzell, author of Independent Immigrants, it is ironic that in a community whose population through the years was so dominantly Lutheran, the only person "of national recognition" to come from Concordia was evangelist/faith healer Kathryn Kuhlman. [That, of course, ignores Hobey Shepp. Smile]

It is amazing how many tributes to her can be found to this day over forty years after her death. She even has a Wikipedia page at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathryn_Kuhlman. Do an on-line search of her name and see all of the hits you get.

When Kathryn visited the home of her parents, Joe and Emma Walkenhorst Kuhlman, on the south side of Concordia, the house would be flooded with flowers sent to her by her admirers.

For a number of years her base of operation was Pittsburg, PA. Years ago, I would frequently travel through the old Pittsburg airport (billed at that time as "the most beautiful airport in America"). For a long time, the main lobby of the airport had a display honoring Kathryn.

[Full disclosure. My mother was a contemporary of Kathryn and knew her from childhood. She never had anything complimentary to say about Kathryn. She was extremely upset when there was a proposal to build a museum honoring Kathryn on the property that our family leased to the Boy Scouts. When approached for permission, she flatly refused.]
